Update on BC Wildfires

Columbia Valley Update | Southeast Fire Centre:
- Highway 93 through Kootenay National Park is currently open with a travel advisory in effect. Wildfire smoke is causing poor visibility.
- We encourage you to check www.DriveBC.ca for up to date information.
- The Resort and Radium Hot Springs are not effected by any wildfire activity.
- Campfires are restricted as the risk for fires is HIGH.
Update on the Kootenay National Park wildfire, as of Thursday Aug. 23:
Wardle Creek: The Wardle Creek Fire near Vermillion Crossing in Kootenay National Park is being held and is not expected to spread. There are currently 93 personnel and 5 helicopters on site and there will be no further updates on this fire from Parks Canada unless there is a significant change to report. Highway 93S may be subject to delays, so please check www.drivebc.ca before you travel.
We highly recommend that travelers keep up to date and informed, from official channels, on the current conditions in the areas being traveled to.
