Kootenay River Runners

Ripping down a river on a white water rafting adventure is the perfect summer activity for thrill-seekers and vacationers alike. Kootenay River Runners offers three different white water rafting trips, varying in risk level so there is a trip available for everyone. They offer trips from the Kicking Horse River, Toby Creek and the Kootenay River.

The Kicking Horse River trip is the most extreme trip with rapids ranging from class 3 to 4. Do not be afraid though, even if you have never rafted before the guides are highly trained and will make sure that everyone is prepared. This trip takes about four hours and runs twice daily. It also includes an optional bbq riverside lunch and camping is available at basecamp. This adventure is perfect for thrill-seekers, it will take you through huge rapids and you will see some amazing scenery. This trip is based out of Golden, BC make sure to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to get set up and ready to go.

The Toby Creek trip is perfect for first-timers and families; it is two hours long and takes you through rapids of class 2 and 3. The minimum age is eight years old for safety reasons, and the trip runs daily at 10am, 1pm and 4pm. Although this trip is shorter you are still guaranteed to enjoy the spectacular views and experience the thrill of going over rapids. This trip is based out of Panorama, BC you depart at their base that is just one kilometre out of Panorama Mountain Village. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

Bring the whole family out on the Kootenay River trip, with a minimum age of five years old this trip is perfect for all kinds of groups. Full day trips lasting eight hours include a delicious riverside lunch. Half day trips are available as well which last four and a half hours. This trip features rapids of class two and three. If you choose the full day trip you will enjoy a stop at the incredible Pedley Falls. This trip begins at the Kootenay River Runners office in Radium Hot Springs, BC. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes before hand to get ready. All trip times are in Mountain Time (same as Alberta) so make sure to be aware of this if you’re coming from Pacific Time.

Kootenay River Runners were the first to descent the Kicking Horse River in 1980 and was the first commercial rafting outlet on the river. Their wealth of knowledge makes it clear that there is no better place to try out white water rafting. As with any adventurous activity, there is some risk involved in white water rafting, but Kootenay River Runners specializes in mixing safety and fun. Their guides are trained for any situation that may arise on an expedition.
