Summer in the Valley!
It’s summer so that means it is time to have fun in the sun with the family!
Cool off at some of the many lakes in the nearby area.
Olive Lake is a stunning emerald green colour with crystal clear water that you can see right to the bottom of. It’s easy to spot from the highway so get out and take a look; there is a creek that has fresh flowing clean water that is safe to fill up your canteen.
Invermere Rotary Splash & Spray Park is a great place to bring the kids out to cool off. There are tons of water guns, splash zones and fountains. You and the family will have buckets of fun! It is located right on Kinsmen Beach so while the kids splash away you can lay in the sand and tan.
Kootenay River Runners offers three different white water rafting trips that vary in skill level so there is a trip suitable for everyone. If you bring the whole group out and fill the raft they will apply a group discount so try bringing friends, kids, aunts, uncles, cousins, whomever you can to grab a paddle and hit the rapids.
Dry off with some fun on land!
Bring your preteens and teens to Valley Zipline Adventures which features 7 ziplines. The last line at the end is a real behemoth total length of 722 feet, ride if you are up for the challenge. Their newest additions are the 32 foot climbing wall and Jump Tower a 35 feet QuickJump Free Fall device. I took the leap last summer on the QuickJump Free Fall Device and I assure you, you will survive. You may be a little afraid but it is well worth it. When I peered over the edge of the deck, it looked like it was 100 feet but I also have a bit of a fear of heights. I held my breath and took that leap of faith, the free fall was definitely scream worthy but so fun and exhilarating. Definitely a great way to finish off a fun filled adventurous day.
Looking to experience something extra peculiar? The home of 1000 Faces is a place you have to venture to when you visit Radium. The owner is known to be as unique as his many wood carvings; some have described Rolf as a wizard. He has been whittling various carvings for many years and is certainly a master of the craft! They say it takes 10000 hours to master a craft but in this case it takes 1000 Faces to become a tourist attraction. Come check out these unique carvings and support a local artist by taking a souvenir home to remember the trip.
There are also tons of local trails and parks to explore in the nearby area. There are a lot of options for fun activities with the whole family right here in the Columbia Valley. Make sure you come out to enjoy fun in the sun, out in the water and soar through the trees this summer. The Columbia Valley is home to so many fun options to entertain the family. Radium Hot Springs is located in the centre of the valley and in the heart of the town is Bighorn Meadows Resort. Book your stay today and see why everyone who visits the valley returns time and time again.
