Summertime Fun

The sun is finally shining, it is time to take full advantage of the beautiful summer weather. Our wildlife has come out to frolic in the fields and it is about time that you do the same. This season will be jam packed with events that you’ve been for waiting all year.


As you may know, Friday nights are when the weekend begins and it’s time to celebrate the week off! From July-August, the Market on Main is open from 4-9pm every Friday evening. It is a community Market which welcomes all homemade, handmade, homegrown, and retail goods. They are stocked with a bounty of fresh produce, artisan breads, specialty jams, sauces and other culinary delights to the finest in handmade jewelry, furniture, glassware, textiles and art. It’s the perfect place to purchase some fresh produce, or memorabilia as a token to always remember your stay in Radium.


Not only is there a fantastic market but it is complimented by Music on Main, which began over 10 years ago. This gives locals the opportunity to perform in front of their peers as well as the seasonal visitors, it is one of Radium’s annual premier summer events. Did you know smarties can sing? They will be this year on August 17th at Music and Market on Main! This event is free but the organizers do make note that everyone performing is volunteering their time. They hope for a donation of $2 for the performers and are calling it “Toonies for Tunes.” You can enjoy these performances towards the end of the market from 7-9pm. So, grab some goodies at the market and sit down to enjoy top quality music with a high-quality snack in your hands.


The Annual East Kootenay Beer Festival is just weeks away! Please stop by to taste a variety of beer, cider, spirits, and listen to Cod Gone Wild perform live! This is the event of the Valley so you won’t want to miss out! Local breweries and distilleries have been mixing up the perfect concoctions for your approval. Vote on the best beer around and help them choose which move to make next. Each ticket comes with a punch card that allows you to try up to 25 different drinks, so make sure that you bring your valid government issued ID that shows you are 19+.


Do you have plans for the first week of July? If not, you do now! From July 5-7 the Steamboat Mountain Music Festival will have the town roaring. Early bird tickets are $10 cheaper than buying them at the door so make sure to get them before the event begins, as this pricing ends July 5th. Which is also the night of Porch Parties, so bring good walking shoes because there’s quite a bit of distance to cover and a whole lot of amazing people to meet! Saturday is when the main stage opens and the music starts bumping. Edgewater Park will have music playing from 11am-10pm. When the main stage closes that means it’s time to mosey on over to the Hall, where the after party is.


The last big event of the summer is the Invermere MusicFest: Waterfront Music Festival is set for August 16 & 17. The event kick offs Friday with a dance night, the whole family is sure to be moving and grooving. With the beautiful Lake Windermere as a backdrop, at the Kinsmen Beach Greenspace is sure to be a picturesque moment.
