Paddleboard Retreat

Escape the hustle of life and join us for a getaway filled with paddleboarding instruction, yoga classes, delicious food and great company. This retreat is all about about having fun and experiencing something new. Learn how to paddleboard with a certified Paddle Canada instructor, Jill Parry from Big Dog Paddle, while exploring beautiful places in the Columbia Valley. Take part in daily yoga classes to develop strength and flexibility of mind and body.  Getaway on your own or bring a group of friends – this is going to be a fun adventure you won’t want to miss!

Paddleboard & Yoga Retreat includes:

  • 2 Nights accommodation at Bighorn Meadows Resort
  • 2 Morning yoga sessions (1 hour/session)
  • 2 Stand-up paddleboard instruction and technique sessions (5.5 hours on the water!)
  • 2 Lunches and a $30 dinner voucher to Elevations Dining at the Springs Course


  • Option 1 – $435/person: Guest Room (sleeps 2, similar to a hotel room)
  • Option 2 – $523/person: 1 Bedroom Suite (sleeps 2, full kitchen, private bedroom)
  • Option 3 – $465/person: 2 Bedroom Suite (sleeps 4, full kitchen, private bedrooms)

Rate includes all of the above. Tax not included. Doesn’t include transportation to the lake. Yoga will be held in Forster or on resort grounds, weather depending. Daily paddleboard cost can be removed if you have your own. Must reserve by August 4, 2019. Minimum required to host the retreat is 5 participants. 



Friday, August 9th
5pm to 7pm – Meet and greet with wine and appetizers

Saturday, August 10th
9am to 10am – Morning yoga
10:30am – Leave for the lake
11am to noon – Intro into paddleboarding
Noon – Lunch (bagged)
1pm to 4pm – Paddle and technique
4pm to 4:30pm – Hang out & pack up
4:30pm to 5pm – Leave the lake
5:30pm to 7pm – Free time
7pm – Dinner at the Springs Clubhouse

Sunday, August 11th
8am to 9am – Morning yoga
9:30am – Leave for the lake
10am to 12:30pm – Paddleboard
12:30pm – Lunch (bagged)
1:00pm – Return to resort for check-out

Instructor Bio:

Jill Parry, with Big Dog Paddle, grew up in Calgary and spent the summers with her family windsurfing on Lake Windermere and canoeing the Columbia Wetlands. Jill follows her passion for water and the outdoors with her husband Rob, either paddle boarding the pristine waters of Slocan Lake or the spectacular channels of the Columbia River in her free time. When not on the water, she works as a supervisor for Parks Canada at the Radium Hot Springs Pools. For more than 20 years, Jill owned and instructed for ‘Kutenai Aquatics’ a water fitness swimming skills company at the Radium pools. 

In 2012, Jill discovered her love for SUP and now inspires others to paddle. In the spring of 2015, she obtained her certification as an ‘Advanced SUP Paddle Canada instructor’. In the spring of 2018, Jill completed the Yoga Alliance RYS 200 hours instructor course in the Baja, Mexico. She begins each day with yoga, making time to listen to her body/spirit and clear her mind. Jill feels yoga keeps her mentally and physically strong on and off the water. 

During the winter months, Jill enjoys cross-country skiing with her husband Rob and dreams of SUP!
