WHAT TO DO ON A FALL TRIP TO RADIUM, B.C.
The village of Radium, known for its eponymous hot springs, is at its peak in the fall. Here’s where to eat, stay and what to do in the area.

BIGHORN MEADOWS RESORT
Golf, play ground, on site pool, hot tub, hot springs, ice cream, mini golf, and wild life; what more could you want on a vacation. Bighorn Meadow Resort Rentals is one of the best vacation spots we have ever been to, located in Radium Hot Springs. All activities and restaurants are all within a short drive or walk of each other.

ROADTRIP TO RADIUM: YOUR PERFECT WEEKEND ITINERARY
Only five and a half hours from Kelowna, Radium is an exceptional choice for a quick weekend getaway. We brought the whole adventure-loving family, however, I would come here with an adventurous friend or for a romantic escape as well.

We are proud to announce that we have earned the TripAdvisor Traveller’s Choice Award for 2021, meaning that TripAdvisor travellers have placed this Resort in the top 10% worldwide. Thank you to everyone who helped us earn the award.

Radium Hot Springs: Family Escapes and Winter Adventures
Sure, I like adventures. But I also like a warm shower and hot coffee. I like a good night’s sleep that includes pillows and blankets. Travelling with kids is an adventure in itself, and I want to love my vacation, too. On a chilly weekend in a Rocky Mountain winter, we decided to take our big kids to Radium Hot Springs for winter adventures and indulgent accommodations at the Bighorn Meadows Resort.

RELAXING WEEKEND GETAWAY
I love spending weekends in the mountains, it’s like a mini-vacation and a nice escape from the busy-ness of the city.Typically, Marc and I find ourselves going to Canmore or Banff because it’s so close to home. This time we wanted a change of scenery and to stay a little longer so we opted for a relaxing weekend getaway in Radium Hot Springs.

THE SECRET TO A TOURIST-FREE TRAVEL
Travel enough and you’ll find that November is a GREAT time to travel! This “shoulder season” month is generally quiet across Canada as we see a transition from summer sports to winter ones, and most people take a break leading up to the Christmas holiday season.

A WILD TIME AT THE ANNUAL HEADBANGER FESTIVAL IN RADIUM HOT SPRINGS
Typically, when I need to do some headbanging, I scroll through my playlist and settle on some Sabbath. Maybe some Slayer. And I’ve always liked the Scorpions. Ok, to be completely honest, I listen to, on average, about 4.7 heavy metal songs per decade. I actually prefer to watch headbanging. Especially in Radium Hot Springs during the annual fall Headbanger Festival

We were so excited to be given the opportunity to go experience Radium Hot Springs and some exciting local neighbouring businesses this winter. It’s about an 8 hour drive from where we live, Abbotsford, BC, through the most gorgeous mountain setting. With three nights there to explore we had a list of the things that we wanted to do and see near Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia.

THREE DAYS IN RADIUM
A few weeks ago Tracey and I took off for a little fall getaway to Radium BC and today I thought I’d share a few of the highlights from our stay. Radium is a small village in the Kootenays in BC and it’s a location that I’m pretty familiar with as we pass through every year when we go to visit Fairmont.

FAMILY-FRIENDLY CONDOS IN BC’S KOOTENAY-ROCKIES REGION
The first time I stayed in the town of Radium Hot Springs, British Columbia, bordering Kootenay National Park and within easy driving distance of Banff and Lake Louise in the Canadian Rockies, I encountered several bighorn sheep. These animals with large curved horns frequently come down from the mountains into the town.

A WINTER WEEKEND IN BC’S COLUMBIA VALLEY
Head to BC’s Columbia Valley in the winter for skiing, skating and long soaks in the Radium Hot Springs. It’s only a three hour drive from Calgary – and an unbelievably scenic drive at that. We elected to stay at Bighorn Meadows – a luxury condominium complex in the town of Radium Hot Springs. From the comfort of our room we enjoyed awesome views of the Columbia Valley.

A LUXURIOUS STAY AT BIGHORN MEADOWS, BRITISH COLUMBIA
Opening the door to our 2-bedroom condo at Bighorn Meadows was a true delight. Massive soft-carpeted hallways opened up to a breathtaking living room with plenty of windows letting in the sunshine and breathtaking scenery. The main bathroom was humongous and even had a dual shower for those romantic nights. The main bedroom also had it’s own shower and jacuzzi tub and the kitchen had everything you’d ever need.

A WINTER ADVENTURE AWAITS IN THE COLUMBIA VALLEY
After 10 long, incredibly scenic, hours driving from Saskatchewan to British Columbia, I’ve finally arrived in Radium Hot Springs, home of some of Canada’s most well known luxury resorts including Bighorn Meadows Resort, along with some of the best skiing and snowboarding in Canada. With the help of Columbia Valley Tourism, I’ve been asked to join a group of writers and bloggers to partake in as much of this little slice of Canadiana as possible.
