HIKE

Looking at a map of the Columbia Valley, you can’t help but notice the expansive network of trails that spider across the vast terrain. For many locals exploring valley bottoms, over mountain passes and across alpine meadows is more than just a pastime.

Yet, a remarkable sight that is often overlooked is the changing colour of the fall larch. This is when these deciduous conifers turn yellow for a couple of weeks before shedding its needles. Take a guided-hike with Playwest Mountain Experiences to Brewer Lake in the Purcells. The Brewer Lake hike has a little bit of everything – old-growth Douglas Firs and large, meadows filled with wildflowers and several sun-alpine lakes.

Whether you’re an individual, family or small group of friends you can enjoy a hassle-free afternoon discovering facts about the river and wetlands, local birds, fish, reptiles, and animals.
